Jubilee Trees!

To celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012, five Black Poplar trees have been donated to Merton, for planting around the borough.

A cross-party working group has been set up to co-ordinate the celebrations in Merton and we have shortlisted some locations in each of our main centres: Morden, Colliers Wood, Mitcham, Wimbledon and Raynes Park.

You can submit your opinions about where these trees should be planted by clicking the link below.  The suggested sites for Raynes Park are the Sir Joseph Hood Memorial Playing Fields or Cannon Hill Common.  Do bear in mind, however, that Black Poplars are large and quite rare trees that like to be in wet areas, such as next to a river or pond.   The survey can be found at www.merton.gov.uk/diamond-jubilee, alternatively please contact Claire Walshe, Leisure Client and Partnerships Officer at Merton Council on 020 8545 4069 or www.merton.gov.uk/leisure.  Please vote thoughtfully!
